The “purple pill,” also known as Fildena 100 mg, is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in male patients. A man with erectile dysfunction has trouble getting or keeping an erection strong enough for sexual activity. The active component in Fildena 100 mg is sildenafil citrate, the same compound that powers Viagra, a well-known ED drug.

When a man is sexually aroused, sildenafil citrate works by increasing blood flow to the penis. It accomplishes this by preventing the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) enzyme from constricting blood vessels in the penis. Fildena 100 mg helps relax the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to flow into it and causing an erection. This is accomplished by blocking PDE5.
